It’s been less than a month, and my phone is already back in the shop for repairs—this time around, it’s the rear camera!!! Last time, it was the front camera that gave me grief. [crying emoji][crying emoji] Honestly, this feels like a never-ending cycle.

Sure, fixing it ate up my entire afternoon, but when I think about being able to poke fun at JPX again (details in the previous comment section), I can’t help but feel a little smug… And yes, they fixed it for free once more! I don’t have AppleCare+, but my phone is still under warranty since I bought it in Japan.

The staff were genuinely apologetic about the recurring issue and handled the situation with excellent service. I asked them what might be causing these problems, but unfortunately, they couldn’t pinpoint the exact reason. I brought up the possibility of laser damage, but even that wasn’t a definitive answer.

Honestly, I just want to know why this keeps happening—no one wants to send their phone in for repairs so often. While I’m not an avid photographer, I do have a bit of OCD, and any malfunction leaves me feeling uneasy.

I’ve also gone over my recent habits and activities with a fine-tooth comb. I haven’t been to any concerts or KTVs, nor have I taken photos directly into the sun or bright lights. In fact, because I’ve been traveling so much, I haven’t used this phone all that much. Unlike the first time, I noticed the purple spots almost immediately this time.

Taking photos in the same location, the first shot came out perfectly fine (Picture 2), but the second one had those pesky purple spots (Picture 3). Normally, I don’t take many photos, so this random snap with the defect left me scratching my head. Could it have been caused by reflected light from snow?

But others who were with me didn’t experience any issues with their phones.

After reviewing my daily environment, I still can’t find anything unusual. Right now, I own two phones, and my husband has two as well—all recent Apple models—but only mine seems to have these persistent issues. I’ve been loyal to Apple since the iPhone 4, skipping only a generation here and there, and I’ve never encountered problems like this before…

Despite these two frustrating experiences, I’m deeply accustomed to the Apple ecosystem. Chances are, I’ll still upgrade to the next model when it comes out. Apple’s customer service is solid, and I truly hope I won’t face this problem again. [laugh-cry emoji]

  1. Ugh, the purple spots are such a pain! I feel your frustration—my friend had the same issue and it took forever to get it sorted. The guide seems thorough, but I hope Apple addresses this soon because constant repairs are exhausting. Good luck with your second attempt!
